Disaster Response or Combat Operations

Disaster response or combat agencies (eg. Police, Fire & Ambulance services; SES) are those that are immediately called into operation to secure life and property, including evacuation of residents/communities, at the time or following a ‘disaster event’. At a District level, these operations are under the command of the District Disaster Coordinator (usually District Police Inspector). The DDC also exercises coordination of the various other response or functional agencies that are responsible for supplies, communications, transport, health, power and other utilities. Community recovery is also functionally activated through the District Disaster Coordinator.
